Training PackagesRMI offers four training packages, from introducing racial equity into your organization to ongoing technical support:Package 1 - RMI: Orientation Sampler Focus: This package is designed for those organizations not familiar with the Race Matters Toolkit and to help an organization determine whether RMI is a good fit for the racial equity goals they hope to achieve. This package assists individuals/staff interested in getting the RM toolkit in front of their organizational decision makers for consideration as a viable option for introducing racial equity in their organization. This package should be viewed as a menu of options to be selected, based upon the venues available, to gain a better understanding of what the Race Matters Toolkit offers. Venues can be as small as meeting with senior leadership teams/Boards of Trustees/staff development committees charged with vetting new training opportunities; or as large as an organization's annual conference/staff retreat. Webinars are available on a quarterly basis offering Race Matters Toolkit user's testimonials. Webinars will be provided for a nominal fee or in some instances free of charge. Results: Participants will have a preliminary understanding of what the Race Matters toolkit offers and how it might align with your organizational racial equity aspirations and goals. Participants will develop a shared language to facilitate more intentional and focused conversations regarding racial equity. Participants will be able to make a determination on whether to take advantage of the RMI Offerings.
Package 2 - RMI: Toolkit Intensive Focus: This package is for those organizations interested in using the Race Matters Toolkit to further their programmatic work. It includes a full day of training and then a deeper engagement with up to three units or departments within the organization that are ready to apply the tools to their work. RMI consultants' facilitate sessions with these units/departments to assist their staff in using the three core tools; What's Race Got to Do With It; Racial Equity Impact Analysis; and How to Talk About Race. Following the training organizations are provided up to 4 days of RMI consultant coaching time to continue to assist staff on the ground.Results: Develop a shared language to facilitate more intentional and focused conversations regarding racial equity; develop a deeper appreciation for the important role that disaggregated racial/ethnic data has in decision making; have a deeper understanding of the historical, back stories behind the national policies that have led to the institutional/structural inequities that exist today. Know how to measure racial equity; Staff will know how to use the three (3) core tools in the Race Matters Toolkit to enhance their programmatic work. Staff will report increased confidence and feeling supported in talking about structural/institutional racism and its impact on their programmatic work.
Package 3- RMI: Advancing the Mission Toolkit Intensive Focus: This package offers to those organizations that are interested in improving their own organizational policies and practices with regard to equity, diversity and inclusion in staffing, vendor contracting and administrative practices. It begins with an assessment of where the organization is currently situated with regard to these issues. Customized training using the Advancing the Mission Toolkit and the Racial Equity Impact Analyses Tool out of the Race Matters Toolkit suite of tools is then provided to key staff responsible for promoting and implementing racial equity policies and practices in the organization. Results: organizations availing themselves of this training package can anticipate the following results: Specific strategies for hard wiring racially equitable policies and practices into the organization's standard operating procedures; increased knowledge of how to apply a racial equity impact analyses on all administrative decision making. Managers/HR Officers report increased confidence in assuring that personnel practices and policies are equitable.
Package 4 - RMI: Ongoing Technical Support Focus: This package is designed for those organizations that have already taken advantage of one or more of the Race Matters Institute's training packages and have made an ongoing commitment to enhancing their own internal capacity or the capacity of their constituents to infuse racial equity into a standard way of doing business, but who feel they need more guidance and coaching from an experienced consultant . This support includes unlimited one-on-one technical assistance for one or multi-year engagements provided by a team of RMI's senior consultants. This package is particularly useful for organizations that may not have dedicated staff responsible for managing its equity, diversity and inclusion goals and want to enable its management team to do so; or that have an EDI officer who would benefit from having a "coach" to assist in developing strategies for meeting the organization's racial equity goals as well as provide tips for resolving challenges/tensions that may arise along the way. Or provide consultant advice on a specific organizational project, such as development of a racial equity plan that is in alignment with the organization's long range strategic plan. Results: The organization's EDI Officer and/or managers will become more confident and adept at recognizing potential racial inequities and alter their decision making to mitigate/eliminate their occurrence; the organization will hardwire protocols and operating procedures that are designed to assure that racial equity is at the forefront of its way of doing business; EDI Officers, HR Managers and Program Managers will have ready access to an independent authority that can provide "best practices," research and data that can help them in developing their racial equity strategies. |
